Visiting hours are 2pm to 5pm and 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Exceptions to these times are the maternity department, intensive care unit and the children's ward.
Maternity
Open to visiting up to 9pm for husbands, partners, siblings and grandparents. Times for other relatives and friends are 2pm-3pm and 7pm-8pm.
Children belonging to relatives and friends are not allowed in the maternity unit. (The Labour Ward is accessible to husbands and partners at all times).
Children's Wards
Open visiting for parents. For other family members - 8am-8pm.
Intensive Care Unit
11am-1pm and 4pm-7pm.
This hospital promotes protected mealtimes
All wards in the hospital promote and encourage the protected mealtimes scheme allowing patients and staff to focus on the serving and eating of meals.
During one hour – twice a day – all activities cease and the nurses, catering staff and volunteers are available to serve the food and give assistance to patients who may need help.
The protected mealtimes on the wards are:
Telephone calls
Your relatives and friends will want to know how you are getting on. However, please nominate one person to telephone the ward for news and pass it on to others.
Public telephones are available on the wards at call box rates.
Mobile phone policy
Mobile phones may be used in public areas and waiting areas provided use is not causing nuisance to others.
On wards mobile phone use is at the discretion of the senior nurse matron or ward manager.
Use is not permitted in the intensive treatment unit, coronary care or special care baby unit.
Post
Mail is delivered to the wards each morning.
Please ask relatives and friends to address envelopes clearly with:
