Organisationally, the NHS Counter Fraud Service sits alongside the NHS Security Management Service within the NHS Business Service Authority.
The NHS Counter-Fraud Service delivers, amongst other things:
- Advice on fraud-proofing of national policies and processes
- Guidance and support to individual NHS organisations on building a counter-fraud culture, and the prevention and detection of fraud
- Leading on complex investigations and prosecutions, especially those which impact on multiple NHS organisations
- Support for investigations and prosecutions led by individual NHS Trusts
