The board of directors

The Foundation Trust will be managed by a board of directors who are accountable to patients, staff and the local public.


The board of directors will consist of:


  • up to seven non-executive directors, one of whom is the chairman


  • up to seven executive directors, one of whom is the chief executive and another, the director of finance.


The role of the board of directors

 

  • The board exercises the legal powers of the Trust


  • The board is responsible for the future strategic direction of the Trust


  • The board sets the Trust’s strategic aims and objectives


  • The board monitors the performance of the Trust against its objectives and targets, and ensures that high standards of corporate and clinical governance are maintained.


The chairman of the board of directors will also chair the Governors’ Council. All board directors will have full voting rights.
