Ealing Hospital NHS Trust has been invited to become an NHS Foundation Trust in April 2008 and the Trust is presently involved in the application process.
We are applying because we believe this is a natural step to take in improving standards of care whilst developing services to meet the needs of our local population.
We want you to become a member of the Foundation Trust. You can complete the application form, or contact the FT Project Office for an application form on 0800 0130132.
The Trust is excited about the new opportunities and greater freedoms that Foundation status offers us. The one key advantage will be that we will have much more control of our own destiny as we go forward in shaping hospital services in future.
Feedback on Public Consultation
The Trust wishes to thank all those members of the public and organisations that contributed to our public consultation. There was overwhelming support for the Foundation Trust bid. The feedback has led to a re-distribution of constituency seats giving a total of 18 public Governors as follows:
- 5 - Southall
- 4 - Ealing
- 3 - Greenford & Perivale
- 2 - Hanwell
- 1 - Acton
- 1 - Northolt
- 2 - Greater Ealing (covering patients who attend Ealing hospital but who do not live in the borough).
Added to which we will have;
- 5 - Staff Governors (Doctor/ Dentist; Nurse; Midwife; Other Health Professionals and Non Clinical).
- 10 - Nominated Governors from partner organisations (Ealing PCT; Ealing Borough Council; Ealing Community Volunteer Network; Local Practice Based Commissioning Groups; Staff Side Partners; Patient and Public Forum and Imperial College).
Total Governors - 33
Next Steps
After the close of the consultation we submitted our formal application to the Secretary of State on 30th July 2007 and successfully completed the Historical Due Diligence process. The Secretary of State supported our application to proceed to the Monitor (the Regulator) phase of the FT application process in October 2007 and Monitor assigned a senior assessment officer to lead their team in November 2007.
We began the Monitor assessment phase in December 2007 and a decision on our application to become a Foundation Trust should be made by March 2008.
The Governors' Council election, overseen by Electoral Reform Services, took place between October and December 2007 and the results of the contested seats can be seen above.
