Surgery and Critical Care

As a district general hospital we provide a wide range of surgical services working in close co-operation Hammersmith and Charing Cross tertiary hospitals when our patients require more specialist complex surgical procedures.

Many of Ealing Hospital surgeons hold joint appointments with the Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust.

Each year around 16,000 operations and procedures are undertaken in the main theatre suite - six theatres with one smaller theatre and a six bed intensive treatment unit (ITU).

The following surgery and critical care services are provided at Ealing Hospital.

• Anaesthesia and critical care
  General, regional and local anaesthesia for all surgical specialties and support to other clinical services on a hospital wide basis is provided.

• Ear nose and throat
  The service is operated in conjunction with consultants at St Mary's Hospital. Daycase surgery takes place at Ealing Hospital with all major surgery at St Mary's Hospital.

• Cancer services
  Ealing Hospital Trust provides a broad range of Cancer Services for the local community.

• General surgery
  A wide range of surgical procedures is undertaken as day and inpatient cases in addition to minor operations.

• Gynaecology
  Ealing Hospital offers a full range of gynaecology services with both inpatients and day case surgery. Outpatient appointments are held in our modern women's unit.

• Moorfields eye clinic
  This satellite service is integrated with the Moorfields Eye Hospital City Road London. Comprehensive general ophthalmic primary care and specialist clinics are open five days a week plus local anaesthetic daycase surgery.

• Oral & maxillo facial and dental surgery
  A day surgery service is provided for adults and children with more complex surgery taking place at Charing Cross Hospital.

• Trauma orthopaedics 
  A wide range of day and inpatient orthopaedic surgical procedure is undertaken.

• We have subspecialities in Hip, Knee, Shoulder and Paediatric surgery.  We also offer a Spine and Foot service. From the Hip service point of view we offer Hip Resurfacing, Minimal Access Hip Surgery, Primary and Revision Hip Replacement. 

• We have the only  female Orthopaedic surgeon practising in the area.  

   

• Urology (bladder and kidney treatment)
  Ealing Hospital is part of the west London urology network. Day and inpatient investigations and surgery are undertaken at the hospital.
