Haematology

The department of haematology delivers a comprehensive service to Ealing Hospital NHS Trust and primary care for patients with a wide range of blood abnormalities. There are dedicated isolation beds on level 8 for inpatient management and a thriving day unit where the majority of patients receive their treatment.

Services provided:

  • Treatment of all haematological malignancies (to BCSH level 2) in adults

  • Management of haemoglobinopathies

  • Joint paediatric haematology clinics

  • A full anticoagulation service

  • Thrombophilia screening

  • Lymphoma treatment

  • Hypereosinophilia investigation and advice.

Two general haematology outpatient clinics and five anticoagulation clinics are held each week. Any new patients who require to be seen more urgently than clinics allow can be accommodated on the day unit.

Haematology team

The expanded medical team consists of three consultants, two specialist registrars, a dedicated senior house officer and three full-time specialist nurse practitioners.  The unit has close clinical links with the Hammersmith Hospital.

Haematology patient support group

This very active patient group provides a support network for patients and regularly raises funds to improve facilities in the department.
