Diabetes and Endocrinology

This department provides services and treatments for diseases caused by problems with the hormones normally secreted from the endocrine glands pituitary, thyroid, pancreas and adrenal glands.

Diabetes is caused by the inability of the pancreas to produce insulin.  This disease is prevalent amongst our Ealing and Southall community. It is four times more common within the Asian community than other communities.

The department works closely with local GPs and the services provided involve joint working with podiatrists, dieticians and ophthalmologists.

Services provided:

  • Young adult diabetes services

  • Paediatric diabetes services

  • Maternity diabetes services

How to access the services

The diabetes and endocrinology team

The medical team is led by two consultants working with a team of six diabetes nurse specialists and four clinical assistants. The diabetes nurse specialists, as experts in diabetes care, have strong links with the community. They visit local GP surgeries, housebound patients in their homes or residential homes and will advise teachers in schools on the care of children with diabetes.
