Workplace Day Nursery Celebrating Multi-cultural Day at the hospital work-place nursery.

Ealing Hospital NHS Trust offers a comprehensive and attractive  range of services and benefits to all its employees including:

 

Staff restaurant and shops

The Hospital Restaurant provides an extensive range of hot and cold food, with a programme of theme days throughout the year. The Catering department is able to  cater for all types of functions throughout the Trust.


The League of Friends have two Sandwich Bars in the Trust, offering hot and cold snacks and sandwiches throughout the day.


The Trust shop opens at 9:00am and closes at 6:30pm.


Sports facilities

With a Trust employee number and Trust identification badge, all staff are eligible to join Jealous Health Club for an annual £5 fee.  Staff can then make full use of the wide range of sports facilities completely free of charge. The Club is situated only minutes from the Trust site.


Accommodation

The Trust provides on call, short term and long term accommodation on the Hospital site for all staff groups. The Facilities Department will also provide advice and support to new staff looking for private rental accommodation.


Childcare facilities

The Trust is very proud of its workplace nursery, including the Twinkles baby unit. The Trust has recently been awarded Children's Centre Status, and is the first NHS organisation to be designated with this accolade. Our dedicated team of well-trained staff offer care and pre-school education for children aged six months to five years in the attractive and well equipped nursery with its outside play area. The nursery is based on site and opens from 7.00 am to 5.30pm. During the holidays a well-established holiday club provides a fun and varied programme for school age children form 4 to 14 years. The Trust is part of the Child Care vouchers scheme.


BME staff network

The Trust helped develop and supports the BME Staff Network that meets every two months. This is aimed at supporting the development of Black and Minority Ethnic staff at Ealing Hospital and raising the awareness of local events and initiatives.


Work-life balance

The Trust is committed to the Improving Working Lives initiative, helping staff balance the demands of work and family and has adopted a wide range of family friendly policies. These include occupational maternity pay and leave, paternity, carer and adoption leave, job share opportunities and career breaks.

 

Chaplaincy service

In order to support the health and wellbeing of all our staff and reflect our diverse local community, Ealing Hospital has a multi-faith Chaplaincy team  with a prayer room for use by staff, patients and their families as a place of quiet whatever their beliefs.


Staff counselling service

All staff are able to access this free, confidential counselling service         to discuss a full range of issues and problems with qualified and experienced consultants.


Occupational Health Department

The Trust are committed to the health and well being of all our staff. We have an on site Occupational Health Department delivered by a team of nurses and consultants.

  

Eye testing

The Trust will pay £15 towards an eye test and £50 towards the cost of glasses if a new prescription is required. This benefit is available every two years for staff who regularly use a computer.


Pension scheme

All Trust staff can join the NHS pension scheme which provides, among other benefits, a pension, a tax free lump sum and life assurance. Expert advice is available from our pensions officer.


Hospital Saving Association (HSA)

This is a national saving scheme available to all employees, providing staff with facilities to save money for health benefits or claim money back against medical treatment.


Education, Learning and Development Centre

The training and development of all staff is one of our main priorities. This is to ensure that everyone's skills and knowledge are kept well up to date so that patients are given the best possible care. We also want to ensure that every member of staff has a strong sense of job satisfaction and this can only come when you are giving of your best.


The Trust has a range of training facilities including -


  • A general training centre


  • The Postgraduate Training Centre for everyone's use, with facilities especially for clinicians.


  • A multi-disciplinary library facility with state of the art information about nursing and paramedical issues.


Through the Trust's appraisal scheme, every member of staff has a personal development plan and arrangements are made to ensure that individual training needs are met as well as training in teams. We now offer a range of NVQ's for staff from business administration to direct care.

 

Theatre Tickets

From time to time, discounted theatre tickets are available to staff.


National NHS Benefits

Club News and The Competition magazines are available for staff, containing nationally negotiated preferential rates for loans, mortgages and holidays. Additionally, all NHS staff are entitled to sign up with NHS Discounts, who offer discounts with a variety of organisations, including Dorothy Perkins and Nando's.


Communication

A staff newsletter is released on a quarterly basis to provides news, views, features and developments across the Trust.


No Smoking Trust

In line with the Choosing Health White Paper, published through Department of Health. The Trust became a no smoking hospital site from 1st Janauary 2006. 


Equality

The Trust is recognised by the Employment Services as having a positive approach to employing disabled people.
