Ealing Hospital NHS Trust
.

Research and Development

Ealing Hospital supports research in many areas.  Our clinicians not only lead on large studies that have been funded by the UK major research funders but also support other multi-centre research projects by acting as a recruitment site. Our two research programmes, one in cardiovascular disease and the other in vascular disease, are recognised by the Department of Health and have had publications accepted in high-impact publications, for example, Nature Genetics - LOLIPOP study cohort.

Our staff are encouraged to undertake research and also support unfunded research that is undertaken locally and are happy to advise and support local researchers.

Our clinicians also recruit their patients into a variety of commercial research projects

Process to gain Trust approval

The local principal investigator (local researcher)is responsible for gaining approval for the project. This includes approval by the relevant division within the Trust and any other departmental managers that the project may impact upon, for example, pharmacy, x-ray, pathology, cardiology, and research and development to ensure that the division has the resources and capacity to support the project.

A copy of the complete ethics submission, including the supporting documentation, a copy of the favourable ethics opinion, a letter from the study sponsor and details of the project funder must be submitted to the research and development manager:
